Fuchsia and white outfit – Coordenado fúcsia e branco

Today I woke up feeling quite cheerful and decided to wear my fuchsia top (sewing details here, just scroll down for the review) combining it with a white crossover skirt that I bought on sale some time ago (I like it because it sits on the hip, looking more relaxed). I spent all morning shopping for groceries and supplies and I felt pretty good in this outfit, casual but pulled-together as well. Other colors I like combining with fuchsia are some shades of green and blue. It also goes great with neutrals like black and grey.
On a side note, did you notice my slight tan??? The weather reports state that the weather will turn from Monday on (into showers and thunderstorms) so I had to take advantage of the good weather while it lasts. At least I won’t get back to the office looking like I spent my vacation at home sewing, *blink*!

It’s a nice day to go to the beach – Está um belo dia para ir à praia

I swear it’s the first day in July that isn’t too windy to go to the beach here in Aveiro. Up until now, all I could get if I went to the seashore was a “free exfoliating treatment” by sand being blown against my body. So here I am, getting ready to go get a nice tan (finally!). I made this dress a couple of years ago, check it out here if you’re interested in knowing the sewing details. Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

p.a.t.h.e.t.i.c.

welp... pretty sure that sums up my summer sewing and blogging! absolutely pathetic results through these past couple of months! but, to keep it real.. my head and heart's, just not in it right now. i'm pretty sure this is normal ( or at least, that's what i like to tell self. ) either way... i think i feel some mojo coming back, but you never know with a free spirit like me! hahaha...

i decided in my laziness, that my attempt at the Japanese + and x quilt... really should be two new pillows for my couch. and even though i do completely realize that i'm being a slug, i do actually feel legit with my decision! ;P

plus, i really wanted to start my Postage Stamp Quilt! I worked on cutting these sweet, little puppies up all weekend with my Sweet Hot Yams at the Sister's Quilt show. God love them! they even fed the insanity, by bringing me more scraps! kiss kiss, Elizabeth!!

well... here's to { hopefully } seeing you soon kids! Hope your Summer's being fabulous to you and your loved ones!!

Feeding your Wedding Vendors

Okay, so the picture really isn't what I am talking about... but that is what happens when I am starving after a
21 hour day. Before we crack open the wine.

This question has come up quite a bit about feeding your vendors, do you, should you, why? And I am here to answer the questions you have.

Firstly, one of the main reasons I bring this up, is that recently a Mother of the Bride called me to ask me which meal I'd prefer - because she wanted to make sure I ate. But she wasn't planning on feeding any of the other vendors.

Here were my concerns. The photographer and videographer would be working a 10 hour day. The DJ would be working a 5 hour day, for this event we were working with the bride for a 21 hour stint of time. And please know, I am not complaining, I love my job! But here's my point.

We pack with us protein bars, snacks, water, etc. But when the reception comes around, we have a teensy bit of down, the photographer can only take so many pictures of people shoveling food and drinks in their faces, and drinking. Plus, you probably wouldn't want pictures of that anyway - and while working a 10 hour day you probably want to feed your photographer so they stay upright. Keeping in mind, what their contract states, they may request a hot meal. And usually the venue or catering staff, have a vendor meal selections - chicken fingers and french fries work too.

The same goes for us, we aren't picky, but it is nice to sit down for 3 minutes (literally 3 minutes) and eat something once we know that you (the bride, groom, parents of the bride and groom) are being attended to. Our team usually eats in shifts, so I know someone from my team always has eyes on the bride and groom to know they are taken care of.

Our rule is that anyone working more than 4 or 5 hours in a row, should have the ability to eat something if at all possible. I'm not saying go crazy, but if you were working 5 hours or more, you'd want to eat, right?

What are you thinking, when it comes to feeding your vendors?

DIY snake print dress – Vestido estampado cobra (feito por mim)

Made this dress last weekend and I’m so happy with it that I will most definitely make it again (a black pleather version is a must, maybe also another one in white crepe). I opted for these clog sandals and maxi bag hoping to dress it down a little, since I wore it to go to the city and run some errands. Personal photographer wasn’t feeling like going out so I went alone (I was hoping to get some pictures taken in the city; instead these were taken when I got back by lunch time). Sewing review will be up as soon as I get some time to compose it is published here. Have a great week guys!
