Aspirations....

Do you remember those plaques that your Mom would hang up in your room as a child... you know the ones that told us how to be a good person and all... well I decided... I really like those tacky plaques, but can't they be more modern, more urban??? Hence, my Aspiration Baby Quilt or wall hanging... I thought if my boys { Reed & Colin } could embody any aspirations, this is what I'd want for them:

endures
loyal
aspiring
considerate
courageous
forgiving
honest
respectful
humble
enthusiastic
determined
generous
loving

The Life Aquatic...

I am super excited to finish my Neptune quilt! I just love it when a new, { cool } fabric line for boys comes out! I LOVES me some patchwork style quilts... they just look comfy and vintage even thought they can be completely modern and urban... I'm also a big fan of hand tied quilts, but I don't dig babies sucking on the yarn... so, I've been using an appliqué stitch to create the same effect... It also adds a polka dot feel to the back... again big fan ;)

Completely OBSESSED...

Double Hourglass quilt block

HHhmmm... where to go with this now???

So,... I have been completely obsessed with Kerri's Double Hourglass quilt she made and then I realized... OMGosh... I have like 400 { 6 X 6 inch } squares left over from the five hundred rag quilts I've made in the past couple years, so why not attempt one myself... She has the most wonderful tutorial on her blog and I just simply followed the directions and POOF! The funny thing is... that I was so excited to try sewing one together, I didn't really have a design plan, so now... I'm trying to figure out which color palette, I'd like best... I just couldn't believe how fun these little blocks are to make!

Here's Kerri's Blog with her wonderful tutorial...

OUTRAGEOUS... I tell YOU!!!

Wow! I am totally amazed at some basic research on the Heather Ross’ Lightning Bugs fabric line. Now, trust me… I’m no dummy to just how expensive certain prints can run a person for this line, but holey COW! I have seen recent prices range from $18.00 for a fat quarter - $40.00 a yard. This is the worst type of offense… fabric price gauging! I love her stuff to, but shoot… this is plain criminal!

Which has led me to giving a lot of thought as to how to pick the winner for my giveaway tomorrow evening… and I had a couple ideas… first, have my son pick a random number and who’s name & contact info that fall on that number… would be the winner… second, write down all the names of all the entries and pick out of a hat { which would be very timely }, or I thought maybe you’d have some suggestions…

After realizing I’m giving away apparent liquid gold… I thought maybe you’d like a chance to voice your opinions??? I look forward to hearing from you!
