Corset Back Wedding Gown

Me tying a Corset Back.... photo by Damon Tucci

I think that having a corset back on your wedding gown is gorgeous! I don't play favorites, buttons are beautiful too!

But when you have a corset back, there are 32 different ways to lace a corset and they all work.... your dress sales person will do it one way, your alterations seamstress will tell you another, the designer of the dress may have had another in mind... and your planner, well, she does it every weekend. And knows some great ways to lace you up!

These are my hands lacing up my sister's wedding dress. You want it to look pretty, but at the same time, a corset is function it needs to hold up the dress (amongst other things) in the gown for the night. And it will losen with movement, humidity, sitting, standing, breathing, so if it needs to be tightened once throughout the wedding evening that's okay.

My point of all this, is to trust your planner when she's lacing you up, and also budget some extra time (usually 15 minutes) to make sure you are in, it's straight and it looks pretty.

It doesn't have to be like this:

Detail: Draping the Venue

I went to my cousin's wedding recently and fell in love with draping the ceiling! This fabulous detail really adds something extra to your venues. It's that detail that is going to make your guests stop and say, "wow".

You could go more simple like these:

Or a bit more extravagant like this one

Awesometastic Marriage Proposal: Kaity and Bobby

Kaity and Bobby were some of our awesometastic'est clients, and they have a seriously cute proposal story to share to go along with our theme of awesometastic marriage proposals.

Aren't they the cutest!

The story as told by Kaity:

Bobby and I were going up to Gainesville for the Orange and Blue debut last weekend. The morning of the game is the annual Gator Yard Sale - aka where they sell off game-used jerseys (Bobby's other love in his life). For weeks, Bobby told me how stressed he was about the sale and how he was nervous about not getting good jerseys, etc. I told him to be calm and thankful for anything he got!

So, Friday night on the drive up he tells me that we have to go to campus. Kendall (our friend and future bridesmaid!) had texted him that the sale tent had moved and we needed to scope it out. We were planning to be in line at 6am (for the 9am sale). I told him he was crazy and to not worry about it. He persisted and decided we had to go to campus to check.

There we are at 9 o'clock at night cruising campus at 20 mph. He pulls into the parking lot behind Gator Dining. "Why don't you park at the O'Dome. It's closer." "No. It's closed." "It's not closed! Go check." "Yeah, it is." "No, it's not."

Eventually I caved and we parked at Gator D and started walking up to the corner of North-South (Gale Lemerand for you babies) and Stadium Road. Before I know it, he's stopping me at the corner - in front of the Bull Gator...and saying some lovely things I will keep to myself and asking me to marry him. After "Are you serious?!!?" I said "Yes" and that leads me to the most beautiful ring I have ever seen...

Check out Kaity's blog for more!

Hostage Situation: Last Chance

We have tried to be patient. Bobbi and Mike have only met two of the three demands - they refuse to dance nekked in the rain with a water gun.

The 36 hours are almost up and our demands remain unmet!! I see death in the future for your swanky clear umbrella. What are you gonna do Bobbi and Mike? This is your last chance or the umbrella gets it.

Notice the umbrella band even looks sad

Sunsets in Florida: Inspiration Board

Its summertime here in Gainesville, FL and it is HOT! Getting married during the day in the Florida heat can be a bit tricky, especially if you are wanting an outdoor ceremony. With the heat, however, we also get the gorgeous sunsets, and I was recently inspired by the colors of this lovely purple and orange sunset.

And from this sprouted a new inspiration board! Hope you like it :)

Bridesmaids: The Movie

Okay, so I did it! I saw Bridesmaids. I wasn't going to. I promise I wasn't. For Real.

Because, to be completely frank, I love weddings (obviously) but I don't watch them on TV (except for the Royal Wedding), I don't watch silly reality TV shows about weddings, I just love my clients and their weddings.

So when another movie came out about a wedding. I wasn't going to see it. (until it came out on cable).

But I did.

And holy cow, am I glad I did. I laughed until I cried. I laughed until I pee'd myself. And then I snorted. Loudly. It was so funny. Definitely not a chic flick. Definitely a funny, movie! I'd say it's the Hangover from a woman's point of view, but not really. That's a loose translation.

Go see this movie with good company and maybe some popcorn.
