{portland pairs} quilt inspiration thru photography

this week i had a brainstorming session with my dear friend Brooke! I love the way she uses colors in her designs and wanted a partner in crime with me next year while i explore a new skill... in the end, we started a new group with a simple concept. using photography at your muse to create quilt art.

our hope is that we'll be able to explore color and structure of fabric art by utilizing a photo. the plan is that we will both agree on one photo... give ourselves a small timeline, and then reveal. i think it's going to more than interesting to see how each person can look at the same photo and be inspired to create piece of art through fabric that ( most likely ) will look quite different but completely unique! my personal goal next year is to stretch my quilting skills by embracing a more improv stylizing with color! wanta play with us?? we'd love to have you... check out out the new Flickr group for an amazing amount of collect photo's!!

This sums up our mission!

...in a never-ending search for inspiration, we're hoping to compile a group of photos that YOU would love to see interpreted into quilts.. your photos are the starting point (and hopefully you can be inspired, too!) .

please post photos {yours, or anyone else's as long as you give credit where credit is due and possible} of anything that could be interpreted into a quilt block, a mini quilt, or even a full quilt! they can be photos of nature, art, skylines & buildings, home items - anything that intrigues you!

also, feel free to post alongside : which fabrics you would use to translate the look and feel of the photo. all ideas are welcome!

Hope to see you there!!

xo, Heather
