it's not me... i swear!

like always, i find it's much easier to blame one's short comings on someone else. it's my favorite thing to do, really. for example... let's look at this weekend: i should have been doing laundry, dishes and such. but instead i received a new beautiful quilt pattern from a dearly loved friend and all priorities went out the window so i could play. Miss Kate (whom i have a major girl crush on for her swanky style) just released her first quilt pattern. And i know i must be a fan, because this is the first quilt i have EVER made using a pattern. true. I lOVE it... her attitude towards color staying the focus with a clean design... had my heart skip a beat! go on then... pop over to her blog and see her gorgeous quilt using this pattern!! it's seriously swanky shiz!

i also took the opportunity to not clean 4,000,000 Lego's this weekend, when my daddy called and said he needed a Kindle cover. truthfully, is there anything better than a little praise from your parents?? and yes, i realize how old i am. but once a daddy's girl, always a daddy's girl!

then when the mail arrived and i saw this fantastic gift from my darling friend Shelly!! i couldn't keep vacuuming the stupid floors... i had to fill up my new pouch with lots of goodies and then reorganize my couch sewing area!! what?? like you all don't have a little spot next to your favorite chair or couch full of mini projects??? haha... ;)

Luckily, i was a good girl and packaged up all my give-a-way fabrics early, cause when these spring-a-lious fabrics rolled up on Saturday... wull, let's just say... you all could have been waiting a little longer for your goodies! LOL

so, here's to making up for lost time this weekend! cheers kids, i'm off to be responsible! or at least try???

xo, Heather

I am not a fan of having my picture taken... but you can take pictures of my kid and my dog all day!

And how about these?

Seriously, fantastic!

These "mutts" are too cute!

That's just it.
A stash may be weeded now and again, however, the stash remains, well, a stash.
May as well forget about weeding
and cultivate ! ! !
Hugs,
Gerry

Sigh, Can't help you with the stash issue. I have having a hard time containing mine. So much so I am now on a budget/allowance for the month :( So I am staying away from all the lovely sales.

Tips for weeding out your stash....well I have no tips except for always pay cash! I no longer use my debit card when shopping for fabric so that I don't overspend.

I weeded out my stash once; but it was because it was filled with way too much traditional fabric that was handed down to me and honestly it was taking up valuable real estate.

I don't have a monster stash now; but I certainly need to destash some things. It's so hard!!!

I have no useful tips on weeding :( I do a lot of window shopping and debating which may end up being a form of pre-weeding or weed prevention? All it means really is that when I get home from getting my visual 'fix' at the fabric store all I can do is think think think about all the fabrics I saw...

How I weed out fabric?? I am a complete junky too, I am trying so hard not to buy anything… but it’s pretty much impossible. What I do is make quilts out of the fabric that isn’t my “fave” and give them to people, the quilts are still gorgeous and lovely, but not my home style. I feel good doing that, and to me it’s worth the effort and work. Or maybe you can exchange it with people, but then you still end up with fabric don’t you? LOL!

I have a hard time with that one too. If I get really good and use things in my stash, then I just go back and order more and plus... it's a never ending cycle that keeps ending in fabric, fabric and more fabric! Although ever since my love of fabric I seem to buy less shoes, so I guess it was an even trade ;)

Here's a couple WIP's { works in progress } i've been messing around with this week... no endings yet, but a lot of fun!

Have a great Thursday my sweets!!

Eggplant colored fur – Pelo cor de beringela

While browsing through next winter’s fashion shows I came across with quite a few examples of colored fur, namely this Gucci model:

Ao rever alguns desfiles de colecções para o próximo Inverno, encontrei bastantes exemplos de utilização de peles (falsas, creio eu) em tons coloridos, entre os quais este modelo de Gucci:

I loved the way the chunky eggplant fur was teamed up with bright colors, creating a bold contrast and then I remembered; I own a faux fur jacket just like this one!
I also spotted this Oscar de La Renta model; this time eggplant is worn almost monochromatically, creating the illusion of a longer silhouette:

Adorei a forma como a cor beringela foi conjugada com tons vivos, criando um forte contraste de cor e então lembrei-me que tenho um casaco de pelo muito parecido com este!
Também vi outros exemplos da utilização da cor beringela, por exemplo este modelo de Oscar de La Renta em que o conjunto é quase monocromático criando a ilusão de uma silhueta mais longa:

I’ll be willing to try a few colorful outfit options with my eggplant fur jacket, but today I went with a less daring color combo, hope you like it as well!

Sinto-me predisposta a tentar as combinações de cor mais contrastantes, no entanto hoje optei por uma combinação menos ousada, espero que também gostem!

Are you Happy?

In the stress of everyday life, not just in planning a wedding - life can be complicated, stressful. You need to take time out, and ask yourself, Am I Happy?

Sometimes the answer is complicated. Whether the answer is yes or no, the yes can be complicated or the no can be ridiculously complicated. But I think this simple puzzles helps answer the question.

If you're not happy it's selfless to do something about it. (did you hear me, selfless not selfish!!!)

Stepping off my soap box. Thanks for listening.

(sorry I don't know where this image came from, I think I found it on Twitter forever ago and saved it to my desktop... if you know where it came from, let me know so I can give proper credit where it is due.)

Gainesville Indian Wedding

There are not too many weddings throughout the year for us that are 5-Days long, and include ceremonies and events for each of those days, however, Haritha and Peter's wedding included so much more us than ceremonies, it became a friendship during the planning, and we shared our lives during the year plus, and frankly, I had the best time working with her and her family on her wedding, I'd do it over again in a heart beat. (although, can we wait a few more months so I can recuperate)

Verve Studio was there with us for the majority of each event and captured the emotion the beauty and tradition so beautifully!

The Mehndi was gorgeous! Naza Designs in Pensacola was incredible! (Link below)

These shoes make me drool.

Aren't they going to make gorgeos babies!!!
